The Farm

The Hotel is situated only 4 km from the town of Santo Stefano Quisquina (AG). Santo Stefano Quisquina is a village surrounded by green and mountains with many renowned water springs, woods and enchanting landscapes. In this town you can visit the fountain in Piazza Castello, the church of SS. Sacramento and the Villa Comunale. The Mother Church and the Sanctuary of Saint Giordano were building in the eighteenth-century. Also the little church of Saint Calogero, overlooking the valley of the river Magazzolo, is well worth a visit. A stay in Santo Stefano Quisquina would not be complete without a stop at the Sanctuary of Saint Rosalia. In the middle of the hardwood forest of the reserve lies the Quisquina Hermitage, a splendid example of environmental architecture, built in the second half of the 17th century, just after the discovery of the Holy Cave where Saint Rosalia lived from 1150 to 1162.Located at about 1.000 m. above sea level, the Hermitage was inhabited until 1985 by a congregation of hermit monks; today it is a Museum with paintings and sculptures belonging to the ancient and lost churches of the town. The Sanctuary, a little jewel of Sicilian Baroque, houses many works of artists such as Manno, Pennino and Musca. An epigraph, carved in the opening of the Holy Cave, is a historic testimony of Saint Rosalia’s stay in these areas. The association Pro Loco, its management structure, organizes guided tours (more www.quisquina.com) The Natural Reserve of Cammarata Mountain over the Hermitage offers glimpses of the landscape that is worth visiting. The company has drawn on forest land and among many paths to all council Pizzo delle Rondini, whose summit you can admire a breathtaking landscape.
